Instructions: In a large pot, combine the potatoes, garlic cloves, bay leaf and salt with just enough water to cover. Cover the pot, bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender. Drain. Discard the bay leaf. Using a potato masher, mash the potatoes and garlic with enough buttermilk to achieve a smooth consistency. Add salt and pepper to taste. |
