Questions and Answers
Do you know of any supplements that help restore cartilage?
Bicycling and swimming, those two exercises are highly recommended for either the elderly or for people with bad joints because of the low impact on the joints. If you want a choice of what would be better then I would stay with the cycling, this would better prepare you for your event. If it seems as though your knees are very sensitive you may want to take it slow at first and work your way up, start at a low intensity setting and slowly increase it. Do bad knees run in your family? are you by any chance over weight? I don't mean to get too personal but many people have bad knees for either one of those two reasons. There are remedies out their that from what I have read and from actually talking to those who have tried them do actually work. Chondroitin and Glucosomine are two products that have had very good results in helping those with bad joints. While one helps build cartilage the other helps to increase the fluids in your joints and stops the breakdown. These fluids act as and oil and will help minimize pain and inflammation. You can usually find these two as a "Joint Fuel" at your local pharmacy or health food store. I did a quick search on these products and here is an excellent site to help you get more informed with this product: http://www.gnproducts.com/arthritis_relief_glucosamine_chondroitin.html

Betalean HP is very similar to Xenedrine, they both contain Caffeine and Ephedra which are the main ingredients that causes fat loss, then they each throw in their own blend of other ingredients that have shown in some studies to also aid in fat loss. So stay with the EAS product not only because it is a good product but because of the reimbursements that may come your way when you place as one of the top finishers :-). I believe they recommend 3 capsules, twice a day..... If you don't know what to expect, first start with one capsule twice a day and if you didn't feel shaky or jittery then you can safely take 2 capsules twice a day until you work your way up to their recommended dosage. Chances are being a coffee drinker you shouldn't have an problems. Also, seeing that you are doing cardio in the morning then I would advise taking it first thing in the morning before heading out to the gym, then take your other dosage before working out later in the day. You will be surprised at how alert you are and how much easier cardio can be! Do stop it after 12 weeks so your body doesn't get to use to it and then say 3-4 weeks later feel free to start another cycle, this cycle would be the same for all products that contain the Caffeine/Ephedra mixture.

Xenadrine is probably the hottest selling "Fat Burning" product on the market right now. Clinical studies have proven that the ingredients used in Xenadrine (Caffeine, Aspirin and a couple of minor ones) are very effective in fat loss. I personally have used it with good success and I know of others who have used it with even better success and would highly recommend it but only if you don't have any heart problems. This product uses natural ingredients and is not as dangerous as the Phen-Phen that come out a few years back and since has been banned because of deaths. Like you said, if you misuse it then it can be dangerous but so can't a lot of things. If you do decide on taking it start at even a lower dosage than recommended just to see what kind of an effect this will have on you. If you are not a coffee drinker then you will probably have a pretty good buzz going (I actually enjoy it) and try not to take it too late in the afternoon or you will find yourself staying up during the middle of the night. If you want to save your money, I would recommend the generic version of the product which can be found at most pharmacy and even Wal-Mart. It is identical to Xenadrine and about $10.00 cheaper, I have been using their product now for about 6 months and can vouch that it is the same thing, it is called Xetalean....they even compare themselves on the label to Xenadrine.
